The Miniature Radar Altimeter (MRA) Type 1 is a compact, low weight, low power unit specifically designed for installation on Unmanned Air Vehicles. Operating in the 4GHz band, it is highly accurate in the
1.5 to 70m height range and its output via an RS232 interface can be used for a variety of purposes.

It measures the shortest distance to any object within the antenna beam, which, using the supplied patch antenna, has a beamwidth of ±35° at -3dB. Readings are output at 100ms intervals.
